The story is I wanted to design an overland or world map view in pixel art as a full image, but then I realized I may be wasting too many memory loading a huge 1500×1500 single image on the game when I can create a tileset instead to construct the map, along with other advantages as well such as being able to create variants, or even creating a map of even larger size. But there is one thing that seems missing from it ever since, a feature such as a “live” tile set editing. Kenney ( ) offers some art as UI resources. As you may know GraphicsGale had been my go to pixel art editor for years, it’s a great free software and it has served me well, I have even contributed some positive comments about it on Slant talking about the best pixel editing programs out there. Opengameart ( ) is what it says on the tin. Righted grammarism help would, too much.Īny recommendations, more categories, anything & stuff? Or, I'd actually like to suggest the moderators to delete/lock my thread, and make a new one, preferably stickied for the benefit of newbs, where someone more deeply entwined with this forum could make more regular updates than I would, and provide a more informed perspective about which programs are more gooded. You just post to tell me about the tool, what it does, and I'll update my post to include it. I'd like to make a thread for any tools you can suggest to people who might need tools for making games. I shudder to think of how many hours I could've saved by using a pixel editor that was actually supposed to be used. While I'm sure that everyone who's someone already knows how to dot their pixels, for people like me that wasn't true, and it's really bitin' me arse. As GMS' art suite is not supposed to be relied on (the very tutorial told me so, I'm not being mean!), I thought we should draw attention to other alternatives for your pixel art.
